US Tax Shield Review
Intercard Payments, Inc, DBA US Tax Shield, is a tax relief company based in Woodland Hills, CA. Tax relief ervices listed on US Tax Shield’s ‘services’ page are: IRS appeals, Innocent Spouse relief, Offer in Compromise, payroll tax representation, penalty abatements, wage garnishments releases, and state tax disputes.
US Tax Shield advertises on the Internet, radio and television.
A good way to determine the honesty of a tax resolution company is by what they have to say about the IRS’s Offer in Compromise, aka the “Pennies on the Dollar” program. US Tax Shield’s marketing is on the conservative side about what can be done when dealing with the IRS. This is a good thing because they are not selling hope over reality. US Tax Shield claims a 90% Offer in Compromise acceptance rate by the IRS. If this is true, it’s a good sign because it means they are being very selective when they file an Offer in Compromise.
Over 90% of people are not eligible for an Offer in Compromise. Filing a frivolous Offer in Compromise with the IRS is a waste of time and money to both the client and the IRS, and can lead to more problems and expenses down the road.
US Tax Shield’s website has no ‘about’ page with basic and biographical information, like most businesses. They don’t list ownership or senior management staff, but they do list a number of attorneys.
We’re disappointed they do not list any tax relief analysts or sales people, however, because these are the people who analyze your situation during an initial consultation, and with whom you’ll speak prior to any possible engagement of the company for services. This is a concern for us. People do business with people they trust, and transparency builds trust.
US Tax Shield is not very transparent about their business or who’s actually handling your case. It is preferable to know who you are talking to and about their qualifications and professional experience.
US Tax Shield has been BBB accredited since 2009. They show 15 complaints in the last 36 months.
California Secretary of State filings shows Intercard Payments, Inc, was founded in 2000. The Better Business Bureau lists US Tax Shield as a member since 2009.
US Tax Shield has many positive customer reviews on TrustLink, though none since 2015. They also have some reviews on Trust Pilot, though only a dozen as of February 2017, and with a 5.4 out of 10 rating. We’d like to see more reviews before drawing a conclusion.
US Tax Shield has a guarantee of sorts too, which they call a Price Protection Guarantee. It states that your advisor will provide you with a guaranteed fee to tax your case from start to finish. In general we dislike the flat-fee proposal because tax problems have a way of becoming bigger than expected and are difficult to quote, especially for large or complex issues.

US Tax Shield is an established company with an honest marketing message about tax relief. They’ve been in business since 2009, so they can get the job done. Unfortunately, they are not transparent about the majority of their staff. They show some attorneys, but do not list ownership, management or sales staff. They also have a large number of complaints against them. We recommend to use caution if dealing with US Tax Shield.
